Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa has confirmed its second location will open soon in the fast-growing Lake Nona community in southeast Orlando.
The restaurant, which is tentatively set to open in the first quarter of 2017, will be located in Lake Nona Village on Narcoossee Road. Pig Floyd’s joins several other restaurants in the Village including Graeme McDowell’s Nona Blue, Makis Place, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Panera Bread, and Piazza Italia.
Lake Nona Village is located on Narcoossee Road between the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and NorthLake Park neighborhoods. Pig Floyd’s is known for its urban barbakoa style barbeque. The current location is located in the Mills 50 District in Orlando, Fla.
"I selected Lake Nona to compliment the local culinary scene and Lake Nona region and community,” said Pig Floyd’s owner Thomas ‘Tito’ Ward. “The opportunity to grow our brand and introduce international barbakoa (barbecue) to a growing central community was important to me. Lake Nona offers a real sense of community and we’re excited to call Lake Nona home.”
“Pig Floyd’s is the latest example of our commitment to attracting homegrown, limited unit concepts to Lake Nona that offer great food and exceptional dining experiences,” said Skipper Peek, vice president of commercial sales and development with Tavistock Development Company, the developer of Lake Nona. Pig Floyd’s joins other Lake Nona specialty restaurants, including Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine, Canvas Restaurant and Market, Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen, Nona Blue and Piazza Italia.
After launching its first restaurant concept in the Mills 50 District of Orlando in 2014, Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa gained local and national notoriety by serving hand-crafted internationally influenced dishes and barbakoa (barbecue). Pig Floyd's places special emphasis on artfully slow-cooking selected meats and utilizing fresh ingredients. Tender, succulent and flavorful, Pig Floyd’s offers patrons sandwiches, specialty tacos, platters and a large selection of beer, wine and beverages.
