The Barbecue Song: Listen, Laugh, and Learn BBQ Fans

In my research to discover the most popular barbecue type in Orlando and the state of Florida, I came across this video that is both funny and educational. And, just for the record, I disagree wholeheartedly about Florida...

What's your favorite type of barbecue? And, do you "cook out" or "barbecue" in the backyard?

Very cool song! I just had some Alabama style barbecue (in VA) a few days ago and tried some of that white sauce. Tasted just like ranch dressing. The restaurant recommended that it be eaten with ribs with more traditional sauces with other meats.

Speaking of BBQ, what is the proper spelling of the word? The dictionary that comes with windows computers has it as barbecue, but everyone else I've talked to agrees that it should be barbeque with a q instead of a c.

I really haven't encountered anything in Orlando that is distinctly southern. Most everyone is from someplace else. To experience the South, you have to travel north.

Watch me eat,

I've never tried the white barb-b-que sauce. Doesn't appeal to me at all. But I do like cole slaw on a bbq sandwich, so maybe it's somewhat similar?

As for the "proper" spelling of barbecue, I think it's really up to the establishment and how much room they have on their signage!

I grew up on sweet, tomato based sauce, but as an adult, I'm leaning toward a vinegar-based sauce, and I love a Memphis dry rub.

Tasty Chomps,

Very hard to pick the best bbq in Orlando. Some places have great ribs, but so-so pulled pork, etc. I may just have to do a poll soon and get to the bottom of it once and for all.

What's your favorite?
